It’s almost time for everyone to head back to school. Figuring out what your teen son will need in his school backpack can be confusing.
Below I’ve put together a list of the absolute must-have’s you should consider when back-to-school shopping.
The Basics
First, let’s cover the basics. High School kids are a lot easier for supplies (thankfully!!!!) below are what I would suggest:

Binder: Some kids prefer notebooks but my son finds it easier to use a binder with dividers.

Pencil Case: I find a pencil case for a 3-ring binder easier. I fill it with some pencils, pens, white-out, highlighters, pencils, an eraser, and a calculator.
Easy Peasy! School supplies are complete!
The Rest
Now for the “fun” things they will need.

Refillable Water Bottle: Since 2020 some schools don’t allow kids to use the water fountains so it’s best to keep a reusable water bottle in their backpack so they stay hydrated through the day.

Headphones: Let’s face it, they don’t go anywhere without their headphones. They’ll want it for the walk or bus ride to school and whenever they get a break and are allowed to use them.

Portable Charger: If your teen doesn’t forget to charge their phone constantly, you don’t need this. If your teen is anything like mine, get them a portable charger to save yourself from the inevitable “my phone is about to die” text.

Deodorant: I pack my son a deodorant stick AND a deodorant spray. You can’t be too careful.

Gum or Mints: Again, you can’t be too careful. My son has braces so he can’t have gum, put he has a ton of mints.
