If you read My home decor: living room edition, you’ll know the decor war that went on in my home. If you didn’t: essentially my husband hates my decor style, and I slowly changed my decor without him even realizing it.

Step 1
Step 1 of operation home decor was to order everything off of Amazon and hide the boxes. This was probably the most stressful and tricky stage.
Step 2
Step 2 of operation home decor was to slowly bring items into the dining room, completely undetected! This part requires strategy, but is super easy!
Side note: I was perfectly fine with the basics of my dining room. It just needed a tweek.

Operation Home Decor
Before I started this, I made sure the table was cluttered! This helped my changes go completely undetected.
Day 1: I added a table runner. I strategically put the mess back exactly as I found it, to hide the change.
Day 2-10: I was adding decor to my living room.
Day 11: By this time the clutter had organically returned to its rightful spots. I replaced my normal candles with candle holders and held my breath.
Day 12-19: Working on the living room decor.
Day 20: I lucked out! It was mothers day and I was able to replace the weird yellow centrepiece with a beautiful orchid my husband bought me.
Strategy note: Do this in the summer! That way you’re quickly replacing it with fall decor and then Christmas decor. By the time January rolls around, they can’t remember what the previous decor was, but know they’ve seen these items before. My husband has only questioned a couple of things.
